Sunrise at Bar Harbor, Maine

I made this shot one early morning at the Shore Path of Bar Harbor in Maine. To cover the nearly 180 degree panorama, I have stitched 8 individual shots into a photo with a resolution of more than 14K x 5K pixels.

The picture shows Frenchman Bay in the Mt Desert Narrows (which is how this stretch of the Atlantic Ocean way up north east of continental US is referred to).

The huge rock dominating the center of the panorama is called Balance Rock. It is a massive rock, which presumably moved downhill from the close-by Cadillac Mountain in the past ice age. Luckily the rock paused its journey at the beach – not shy at all right at the top of a “stone podium”. So we all can enjoy this impressive view even better...
